Most often, inspiring journeys begin with a small step. It’s these little steps that turn into a giant leap, making way for exponential development. The story of roadways in India is similar. A country deeply rooted in its traditions, India was basking in the glory of a royal past oblivious of a rapidly developing world. What then started as baby steps towards a better future turned into an unforgettable journey of pride. Of all the things listed in the agenda of development, Indian Roadways was one of them. Highlighted in bold. Today, after growing by leaps and bounds in roadways besides every other vertical, India has a road network that is the second largest in the world. Here are some numbers that does the talking; 5 million km of roads which include 93000 km of highways and 1000 km of expressways. What makes this achievement interesting is the fact that the growth of roadways has opened the road for development in infrastructure, employment, tourism and the economy in general. If one looks back today, it’s one of those journeys which can be called arduous, exhilarating nonetheless.

Patel Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (PIPL) too has been a part in the wonderful journey. Coincidentally, the story of PIPL is similar to that of Indian roadways. Mr. Arvind Patel, Managing Director of Patel Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. says “A road project in the year 2000 under the sub-contract of Punj Lloyd for a 6 lane project from Vadodara-Halol in Gujarat was the first step we took towards the development of a brand and country. Soon, with time, these little steps turned into a giant leap (today PIPL’s 70% of turnover comes from Road infrastructure).
